Die meisten Gemälde des Zyklus Spuren basieren auf historischen Fotografien (meist Gruppenfotos) oftmals aufgenommen von Soldaten der Wehrmacht bzw. von SS-Männern. Die Malerei versucht Ungesehenes sichtbar zu machen.
