Die meisten Gemälde des Zyklus Spuren basieren auf historischen Fotografien (meist Gruppenfotos) oftmals aufgenommen von Soldaten der Wehrmacht bzw. von SS-Männern. Bei den meisten Portraits handelt es sich um Menschen, die gequält und ermordet wurden.

Most of the paintings in the Spuren cycle are based on historical photographs (mostly group photos) often taken by soldiers of the Wehrmacht or SS men. Most of the portraits are of people who were tortured and murdered.
